When I walked into Canyon Personal Training and Fitness I had let myself go for several years. I found it much easier to eat then to work out. I found it much easier to sit on the coach then to go for a walk or a bike ride.  My blood chemistry was not the best, my mental state was far from upbeat and my energy level was nonexistent. I weighed 228lbs and had the stamina and balance of a 90 year old…..or so it felt.  I wore 38 trousers and couldn’t bend over to tie my shoes without coming up for air a few times. All right so that’s where I was……..let’s speed up to 6 months later, March 2011. My weight is now a 194lbs. with very little dietary changes, my waist is a 34 not a 38, my lab work just came back and my blood chemistry is not only within the acceptable ranges but it is on the low end of those ranges. Oh and did I mention that I am 194lbs with a 10% reduction in body fat and considerably stronger then I was when I started. Most importantly, and this point is so overlooked by many people….I am “mentally fit” again. I am so motivated to do something each day that will contribute to my overall well being. I am mentally crisp again and do not battle the doldrums with junk food but instead use exercise to lift my spirits. Anyway I don’t want my trainer, Scott to get a fat head but please except my heartfelt thanks for what you have done for me and let it be known that I look forward to doing this with you for a long time to come.  Don Martin

“Canyon Personal Training and Fitness is great! After years of procrastinating, I’m finally on a regular work out schedule, and enjoying it. I never thought I’d look forward to working out, but today I’m having a good time getting in shape. My blood pressure and cholesterol levels have both improved. Canyon Fitness is conveniently located and offers a friendly low pressure environment. It’s designed for average people who want to stay or become healthy. Tom Dueber and his colleagues at Canyon Fitness are wonderful. They’re friendly and happy to answer questions and offer suggestions. And the services address all my needs. They offer suggestions on diet—important to me—and are always encouraging. I especially like the Body Bugg™ System. It allows me to track my calorie intake and calorie burn. Personally, I need that structured approach. I’m a big fan of Tom Dueber and Canyon Fitness. Becoming a member has made a big difference in my life and health.”

Kippy Sloan and the excellent staff and facilities at Canyon Personal Training & Fitness Center make my fitness goals achievable. When I started, I didn’t think that working out could be such fun, and easy to maintain. Canyon’s fitness center has the perfect size and feel. The staff and the other fine folks there make it a comfortable place, more like working out at home than at a big, impersonal, and intimidating gym. It’s important to want to go, especially for those first few weeks when one’s resolve can be frail, and Kippy and Canyon make it easy to stay on the right path. I work out to get healthy and stay that way, and having the right trainer that works with me, respects my motivation and goals, and then helps me reach that goal is wonderful.”

“Just the other evening I was leaving my son’s house on the way home. I didn’t bother to turn on the porch light as I left which was a big mistake. I was on the porch landing and thought I was level with the drive. I wasn’t and as I walked toward my car I went down two stairs practically doing a face plant into the rocks at the edge of the sidewalk.  I managed to catch myself without falling and immediately thought to myself, ‘what a lucky break.’ The next day as I was working out doing the core and strength program my trainer, Scott has designed I thought about my near accident. It wasn’t just a lucky break that I didn’t fall. It also was because of the three months of training under Scott’s supervision. My training has helped me be stronger, have better balance and even have more confidence in myself. That’s saying a lot for a guy rapidly approaching a magical 68 years of age. I would like to commit to no more whining during workouts, but I’m sure Scott knows if that happens it will be just a matter of his good luck. Thanks for making a difference that really mattered.”

“When I first came to Canyon Personal Training and Fitness I had to pull myself up the few steps into the gym. My left knee was in horrible pain. I walked with a bad limp and I weighed 186 lbs., with high cholesterol! I tried numerous diets and exercise plans that didn't work! Now, 8 months later, after getting started with my personal trainer Tom I have lost 25 lbs. and walk without a limp, plus my knee feels wonderful! I have a new attitude toward exercise; I love going to my workouts! The gym is beautiful, the people are friendly, kind, and very knowledgeable. My trainer Tom has done an awesome job with me! I am very thankful for Canyon Personal Training and Fitness and highly recommend them to anyone wanting to improve their health and quality of life.”

“After my gym closed, a former gym member told me about Canyon. I was skeptical at first when I took the tour, because you never know the quality of the people or equipment without using it. Tom let us work out for free to try it out and the staff and equipment are top notch...I will say, I am in better physical condition after a month and a half at Canyon than I ever was at my old gym for a year and a half.

I highly recommend Jeff Malpezzi as a personal trainer. Jeff’s passion for the profession manifests itself in numerous ways; the programs he develops begin with his clients’ needs firmly defined and the resulting plans are always creative and synergistic. Jeff develops and clearly communicates the long-term vision, plans, and necessary steps to achieve success. He executes workout details with precision yet makes adjustments as necessary. Another advantage Jeff possesses is his deep knowledge of nutrition and the fact that he is a practicing athlete himself.  For example, I identified a goal to deadlift 300+ pounds (1 time) within six months. Jeff took that information, adapted my program accordingly, and by using a unique combination of exercises, sets, reps, and weights had me performing working sets of 3 repetitions with 345 pounds in just under 3 months!  In other words, Jeff Malpezzi gets quality results in short order.

“I joined Canyon Personal Training and Fitness to work on conditioning for an upcoming triathlon; specifically, with the goal of adding resistance training to compliment my other training. As a bonus they addressed my chronic shoulder pain (gone!), knee pain and stability (solid), and core strength (I have Abs!), along with helping me drop a few unwanted pounds. The facility is top-notch and you can't beat the staff for knowledge and personal service. I'm at a point in my life where I want efficient, targeted results, and at Canyon that's what I get.
